Luminescence

How can we use Luminescence?
Since Luminescence produces light without the emission of energy as a form of heat, methods of using these reactions in sensitive environments (ie. areas that can't be heated) could prove to be extremely useful.
Undetectable Light for Warfare
Since the process of luminescence does not emit energy as physical heat, it has been thought that it could be used as light in warfare. This would be a useful method of providing light in dangerous situations, as enemies often have heat detectors that are used to figure out if anyone is approaching. Therefore, luminescent reactions could be used in evenings to prevent enemies from becoming aware of their whereabouts.
Luminescent Plants
One use of luminescence that has been considered for the future is the integration of bioluminescent photoproteins in plants or trees. This would cause the plants to produce light, creating light sources that also have the positive environmental impacts seen in plants.
Luminescent Paint
Luminescent reactions (specifically Chemiluminescence) could be useful on roads and highways. If the necessary mechanisms were created, these reactions could provide glow-in-the-dark guidelines for roads and highways. This technology could replace the paint currently used, and could increase the safety of our roads in the future
